Why Wait Till New Years To Change?

resolutions e1264013254560 300x223 My Own ScheduleWe can be really good at organization and setting future dates when it comes to goal setting, or making any kind of change. We love to start on the first of the month, the new year or the first full moon of March. This makes perfect sense of course, by deciding to start a change in the future we can feel good in the present while avoiding the short term pain of actually doing anything. Sounds like a pretty good deal doesn’t it?

Well this year, just like last year, I won’t be making any New Years Resolutions. New Years day will be just like every other day. I’ll wake up in bed, hopefully my own, drink some lemon water and probably head out for a run. There will not be any absurd new goals or restrictions because there have been none building up. If I decide I must make a change I act on it immediately because I know if I delay and say “someday” it will never happen. I’m just honest with myself.

So next time you read an inspirational book, watch a movie or see a documentary that motivates you to make a change in your life, do it and do it immediately. Until you try it you do not realize how much more powerful goal setting becomes when you act on the thought within 24 hours.

So I may have lied earlier. New Years will be different than other days. I will take some time to reflect on the years past: Accomplishments, glorious moments and hilarious failures. I will take time to reflect on the year ahead and I’m sure in the process set some goals and milestones.

One consistent goal in my life is to help others create change in their own life. One way I can help is to provide accountability. If you want just a little help with your resolutions, even if they are made on the 31st, let me help. Post your comments and resolutions!
